The European Climate Pact is a European Commission initiative to unite citizens, communities, and organisations in the fight against and adaptation to climate change. As part of the European Green Deal, the Climate Pact aims to help the European Union achieve climate neutrality by 2050.
The main objectives of the European Climate Pact include:
- to raise awareness of climate change and promote a scientific approach to environmental issues,
- to encourage climate action at all levels, from individual initiatives to large-scale community projects, and to provide a platform for the exchange of experience and best practice between different actors involved in climate action.
The Pact promotes a number of key values to ensure effective and sustainable climate action. Valuing action based on science and transparency, seeking swift and decisive action against climate change, promoting action at the local level that can directly benefit communities, and being open to all, regardless of background, profession, gender, age or skill level.
The European Climate Pact is a key initiative to mobilise society to fight and adapt to climate change. Organisations and individuals can actively participate in this initiative, contributing to building a more sustainable future through concrete actions, cooperation and knowledge sharing.
